Every child matters at Gomer Junior School
We recognise this through our system called My STARS. We want to work with our parents and carers to help our children to feel like stars and to behave like stars! All of our children are encouraged to value each other and to value property/ belongings. This is focused on through our yellow ‘My Rights Respect and Responsibility STAR’.
Every child in school has a purple ‘My Achievement and Learning STAR’ for English and maths. This is a personal target – a personal goal which they are striving to achieve in their learning. In every maths and English lesson time is provided for the children to see if they have achieved their target! Making progress in learning is important for us!
Some children are working really hard with key individuals for planned Getting Along sessions – blue - ‘My Skills for Getting Along STAR’. These children may be worried or concerned about something to do with a friend; their behaviour might be quiet or loud. They might be trying to ask for help – so we plan and organise special sessions to enable these children to have help in getting along!
We want all our children to feel safe to learn. Some of our children have green ‘My Safe STAR’ targets which encourage them to make the right choices in and out of school – to be sensible crossing the road and to be aware of stranger danger!
All of our children have an orange ‘My Talents and Interests STAR’. These are displayed wonderfully in our school library for all to see. Some of our children have unique and well developed talents and others are just beginning to recognise personal talents. In school we ask children to share their skills and to identify what they are interested in learning! We want learning to be fun at Gomer Junior and for all our children to reach for the STARS.
3LJ, 3KD, 4CA, 4CS, 5DF, 5JFK, 6AW, and 6TP are all working hard on My STARS and are looking forward to continuing to developing our STAR system in school. |
